Ladies Shield Final

Corach Ramblers 1-0 Ross Town

Wasn’t to be for the girls today in a game they know they should have won.
Played in very blustery conditions, the girls played against the wind in the first half. Very little chances for either team were defences were on top. 2nd half with the wind behind us was a totally different half where the girls totally dominated every area of the pitch. Corner after corner, cross after cross, the girls just could not get that break with Corach practically camped in their own half.

With 10 minutes left against the run of play, Corach forward scored an excellent individual goal. Joanne had no chance. 1-0.

Heads didn’t drop. Girls dug deep and got a penalty with 5 minutes remaining. Unfortunately Jenny missed the penalty but to her credit she was brave enough to step up in what was a must score penalty. Even though we didn’t win today, this I have to say was one of the best performances I’ve seen in a long time. Jenny and Joanne shared goalkeeper duties and both dealt comfortably with any attacks. Defence of Adriane, Amy, Brid, Becca gave absolutely nothing away clearing everything thrown at them. Midfield of Lina, Zoe, Lauren and Jenny covered every blade of grass, helping out with defence, supporting the forwards and giving the Corach midfield not a second on the ball.

Our strikers Kellie and Jenny caused havoc the whole game, working tirelessly for the team. They both deserved to be on the score sheet for their efforts.
Our subs Vytaute and Sarah didn’t get on today but they too have played their part in our good form this season.

Heads are down but we’ll go again. I reckon our confidence has grown today and with the League and Cup still to play for, it will be an interesting few weeks.

Bring it on we say.

Go wan the Town.
